Abstract

426,535. Walls; bricks. TURCZAN, J. E., 23, Wolnosci, Krolewska Huta, Poland. Aug. 7, 1934, No. 22881. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Walls are formed of connected wooden blocks of three different types, the blocks a of one type having a vertical groove 2 at each end, the blocks b of the second type having a vertical groove 4 at one end and a horizontal tongue 5 at the other end, and the blocks c of the third type having a vertical groove 7 at one end and a horizontal slot 8 at the other end. The blocks are assembled so that the tongues 5 of the blocks b engage the slots 8 of the blocks c to form a corner construction, and feathers d engage the co-operating vertical grooves 2 in the end faces of the blocks. The blocks of the second and third pairs are formed in two different lengths as shown at b, b<1>, c, c<1> in order to form a corner construction bonding with the blocks a. The blocks a may also be shorter than those shown in the drawing, where necessary. Rods g are inserted in aligned holes provided in the co-operating parts of the blocks b, c. Rods f are also inserted in holes 3 provided in the blocks. The length of each block is a multiple of its width, and each block has a convex top surface and a concave bottom surface. The blocks are built up on a concrete brick, or like foundation h having a layer i of tar, tarred pasteboard or the like thereon, and the concave bottom surface of the lowest course of blocks is filled with concrete or cement k.
