Abstract

424,204. Folding baby - carriages ; portmanteaux. NORTHCOTT, H., 6, Leamington Park, North Acton, London. Aug. 16, 1933, No. 22836. [Classes 108 (i) and 108 (ii)] In a combined perambulator and suitcase in which the case forms the integral body part of the perambulator and into which the perambulator parts may be folded when out of use, collapsable guard panels are mounted along the sides of the case and are raised automatically on opening the perambulator. The body 5 is provided with a two-part lid 6, 7 adapted when open to serve as a canopy and a handle 11 pivoted at 12 and provided with a latching arrangement 13 .. 15, the handle being connected by links 16 to toggle arms 17 whereby guard panels 18 are caused to rise from the double walls of the body when the handle is moved into operative position. The wheels 24 are mounted on brackets 23 carried by bars 22 connected to corner brackets 25 by coiled springs 26 to give a spring suspension, one or more of the coiled springs being provided with means for urging the wheel brackets into the inoperative position beneath the body. The wheels on each side are simultaneously folded by means of a two-armed lever 28 connected by links 30 to cranks 31 on the bars 22, latching means comprising a slot into which an extension of the lever 28 projects being provided. The device when in folded position is adapted to contain clothes &c.
