[Class 83 (iii).] In a metal-cutting broach the finishing teeth a are followed by a rearward projection d having flattened sides c so that, when the broach becomes worn, a sleeve f, Fig. 4, may be placed over the cylindrical shank b with its front slotted portion e engaging over the plates c. The sleeve is secured by a nut screwing over the threads g and the teeth on the sleeve are graduated to agree with the original dimensions of the finishing teeth a.
