Abstract
403,932. Metal tubes; joints. MANNESMANNROHREN-WERKE, 1b, Berger Ufer, D³sseldorf, Germany. March 30, 1932, No. 9212. Addition to 374,397, [Group XXII]. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 16, 1932]. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii).] In welding together sections of lined or covered metal tubes b, the linings or coverings are sealed to the ends of the respective sections during the welding operation. The ends of the tubes may be bevelled to leave free flanges of the lining c, Fig. 5, which may abut as at A, or be bent back against the respective sections as at B or bent out at right angles to the axis as at C. In jointing such tubes by coupling flanges f, the lining and covering c, d may be welded at h, Fig. 4, to the ends of the tube sections which are themselves turned over to form flanges. Where stepped rings i are screwed on the ends of the tubes, the covering c is bent back without welding and gripped between the end of the tube and a step of the member i.
