Abstract
An alloy for use as a scavenger or improver for treating molten metals or alloys consists of lithium with one or more of the following metals: calcium, barium, strontium, alkali metals, and rare earth metals. The alloy may contain also one or more of the metals to be treated, for example iron, nickel, or copper. The alloy may be used in the form of a brick, block, or briquette.
