Abstract

387,474. Vices. HAWKSWELL, E. G. and HOWELL, C., Campbell Works, Bridge Street, Sheffield. Dec. 17, 1931, No. 34921. [Class 61 (ii).] A vice with releasable screw comprises as shown a fixed jaw c to which is anchored a half-nut b and a movable jaw h connected by the usual slide bars e with a bracket d through which passes the end of the screw a. The bracket is provided with an aperture f which is oval in form at f<1> and is tapered till it assumes a circular form at f<2>. This construction together with an elongated slot g in the movable jaw enables the screw to be lifted clear of the half-nut for rapid adjustment.
