371,519. Starting. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London, GREENWOOD, J. E., 1, Stubbs Road, and BOWKETT, N. W., The Greensward, Penn, both in Wolverhampton. Feb. 18, 1931, No. 5128. [Class 7 (v).] In an engine having a valve-actuating cam 2 mounted coaxially with a driving pinion 3, the form of the cam is modified for relieving compression by a member 11 slidable within the cam transversely of the axis of the pinion. As shown, the member 11 is adjusted by means of a rod 16 moved axially by means of a lever 21 and cable 24 and having an inclined shoulder 17 engaging a countersunk hole in the member 11. A spring-pressed conical-ended plunger 25 normally retains the member 11 within the cam.
