[Class 98 (i).] In folding cameras of the kind provided with mechanism for automatically erecting the lens structure as the camera is opened, the structure is erected by an operating link raised by a lever or like member acted upon by a pivoted back strut. As shown, the part 2 hinged at 3 to the casing 1, is furnished at each side with a rear strut 12 slotted at 13 to engage a pin 15 on the inside of the casing, and a front strut 20 pivotally connected at 35 to the lens board 6. An operating link 23 pivoted to a lug 22 is furnished with a slot 24 engaging a pin 26 on the strut 12 and with a slot 25 engaging a pin 18 on the lens board ; also with a pin 36 engaging a slot 21 in the strut 20. The strut 12 is connected to a lug 10 on the front by a pivot 33 which also supports an elevating lever 29 furnished with a lug 31 adapted to be engaged by a shoulder 32 on the strut 12 and with a lip 30 adapted to engage the link 23. As the camera is opened, each slot 13 rides over the pins 15 until a terminal portion 13a is reached ; this is then forced over the pin by a spring finger 14 engaging an ear 11 on the lug 10. The pins 18, 26, 36 also ride along the slots 25, 24, 21 and when the pin 18 reaches the end of the slot 25 the link 23 is elevated by the lever 29 causing the pin 18 to be engaged by an enlargement 27 and lock the lens board in the erected position. To provide for ready adjustment, the pin 18 is carried by a bent tongue and engages a spring tongue 28.
