Abstract
A dry preparation forming soap solution with hot water consists of a mixture of hard fatty acid, soft or non-hard fatty acid, and alkali. Water softeners and other detergents e.g. excess alkali may be added. Acids specified are oleic, stearic, the acids of olive, soya bean, linseed, cottonseed, castor, fish, whale, lard, coco nut, palm, and palm nut oils and of tallow, and hydrogenated acids. Specified alkalies are caustic soda, caustic potash, soda ash, and pearl ash; 10-20 parts by weight of water is suitable. Preferably the powdered alkali is mixed into the liquefied fatty acids maintained at 120-150 DEG F.; but the liquefied fatty acid may be sprayed on to the agitated alkali powder. In an example there are used 60 lb. of the fatty acids of cottonseed oil, 20 lb. of hard white stearine, 12 lb. of soda ash, and 8 lb. of caustic potash. Specification 10689/07, [Class 91, Oils &c.], is referred to.
