Abstract

359,496. Garages. NOBLE, E. C., Concordia, and LANCASTER, B. H., Parana, both in Entre Rios, Argentine. July 23, 1930, No. 22214. [Class 20 (i).] In order to support one or more motor cars in an elevated position and thereby leave the floor space of a garage available for further cars, or for storing goods, a pair of platforms or wheel tracks 1 is disposed on either side of the garage by means of pivoted arms 3 which are supported in their operative position by telescopic stays 7, 12 extending from supports 8 located below the level of the platforms. One of the stays on each side of the garage is of turnbuckle construction, comprising right and left-handed screw members 10, 11, associated with a rotatable sleeve 12, where by the platform 1, arms 3, and all the stays can be folded to an inoperative position as shown in Fig. 3. In their lowered or operative position, the parts 6, 7 of the other telescopic stays come into abutting relationship. Each platform 1 consists of a channel-shaped steel bar which may be adjustable transversely on the arms 3 so as to accommodate cars of various wheel gauge ; or, for the latter purpose, each set of arms 3 may support two or more parallel platforms. The cars may be run on to the platforms by means of detachable ramps.
