346,532. Fuel pumps. COATALEN, L., Moorfield Works, Wolverhampton. Feb. 27, 1930, No. 6499. [Class 102 (i).] Regulating delivery by opening by passes.-In a fuel pump for a Diesel engine the discharge chamber h communicates, by means of a passage r, with a space m surrounding a reduced portion l of a plunger k. The upper and lower parts of the plunger are of different diameters, and if the fuel pressure rises above a certain amount, the unbalanced pressure depresses the plunger against the action of a spring c and connects the space m with the suction chamber f through passages s, t, u and a groove n in the plunger. The ends of the plunger are exposed to atmosphere through bores in plugs p, q.
