Abstract
345,865. Securing railway rails. SNYDER, J. G., and SNYDER A. N., 441, Lexington Avenue, New York, U.S.A. May 3, 1930, No. 13683. [Class 104 (ii).] A rail fastening comprises a plate 2 adapted to be connected to a sleeper 1 and having a pair of overhanging shoulders 16, 17 extending from each end inwardly, a clip 5 for engaging and holding a rail on the plate, and means such as a bolt 15, movable from the ends of the plate along the shoulders and interlocking with the shoulders for securing the clip in place. Fig. 3 shows the plate inverted with a groove 18 extending from end to end, the shoulders being formed by cutting a slot 19 in the bottom of the groove. Transverse slots 12, 13 may be formed to receive a heel 11 on the clip. In another form the groove 18 extends only for a part of the length from the ends. In another form three grooves 18 are formed, the middle one being cut away to form the shoulders. In a modification of the last form, the two outer grooves may be cut at the ends to form the shoulders. The clips may be shaped to support the web of a bull-head rail.
