[Class 135.] A balanced fluidtight valve comprises a casing A and a valve member B having its stem extended above and below it, the extremities of this stem being rigid with split sleeves b, b<1> which pass through fixed endpieces or plugs E. E<1>, attached to the casing A, and are provided with free end-pieces or pistons F, F<1> at their outer extremities outside the casing A through the medium of packing rings f, f<1> and nuts H, H<1>. The free ends F, F<1> are connected to the fixed ends E, E<1> by corrugated tubes G. G<1> having internal inner diameters equal to the diameter of the valve member B and being attached at d, d<1> to the fixed and free ends E, E<1>, F, F<1> thus forming fluidtight compressible chambers N, 0 which are in communication with the spaces above and below the valve member through the split sleeves b, b<1>. The valve is thus balanced in all positions. Operation of the valve may be effected by fluid pressure by enclosing the tubes G, G<1> in caps M, M<1> having fluid-pressure inlets at t, t<1>, or one of the free ends F, F<1> may be connected to the stem of a threaded bolt passing through a collar in a bracket attached to the casing A in order to obtain manual actuation by means of a handwheel. Alternatively, each free end may be connected to the armature of a solenoid so as to operate on the energization of the solenoids from a distance.
