Abstract

313,639. Higgins, H. R. Feb. 17, 1928. Tapping; metal casks; attachments for casks. -Drums, barrels, &c. for oil &c. are filled through a lateral bunghole 4 and the contents are withdrawn by means of a pump attached to a tube 14 slidable in a tube 9 and ejected on removal of a covering plate 8 by a spring 16 bearing upon the two tubes as shown. A valve 11 serves as a non-return valve for the pump and also prevents refilling through the delivery tube. The pump may be in part constituted by the tube 14 as shown in Fig. 9. In an alternative form the oil &c. is ejected by compressed air through a mouth-piece screwed on the outlet pipe. A float-operated gauge 28 is also incorporated with the drum 17.
