Abstract

303,145. Bergische Stahl-Industrie. Dec. 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 249,779. Detachable-rim attachments to wheels. - The parts 2, 3 of a circumferentially-divided rim are adjustably connected by screw devices by which they may be forced apart so that rim-lugs 12, 13 are jammed against coned seats 14, 15 on the spoke-ends, or drawn together to permit removal (or assemblage) of the rim. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, off-set lugs 4 on the spokes a, b, c of the wheel-spider are formed with apertures 17 to receive collars 8 on the bolts 7 connecting the rim-parts 2, 3. Each bolt is threaded through a lug 6 on one rim-part and has a coned collar 10 to engage a corresponding seating in a mating lug 11 on the other rim-part. In a modification, the tightening-devices are arranged on the centre-lines of the spokes.
