Alternating-current motors; windings. - An alternating-current commutator motor has the secondary winding in two parts lying in separate sets so as to have different inductances and the coils of the two windings are connected in parallel to a commutator. The winding S is arranged in slots near the surface of the rotor and the winding S<1>, is in deeper slots. The coils of the two windings are connected together and to a commutator K, but the connected coils are displaced circumferentially by an angle which depends on the relationship of the rotor currents and on the purpose in view. The motor is started as an induction motor as described in Specification 281,344, after which the switch s is closed and alternating current is fed to the commutator from an auxiliary stator winding H whereby the speed or power factor or both may be controlled. Instead of the auxiliary winding H, a transformer may be employed and a resistance r<1> which is cut out gradually may be used to increase the starting torque.
