Abstract

282,914. Timson, A. R. Oct. 9, 1926. Delivery apparatus. - Sheets delivered from a printing or like machine are collected on a cylinder 10 having fixed impaling-pins 11 which pierce the sheets as they are passing between the cylinder and a flat support 12 longitudinally slotted to receive the pins. The pins 11 are fixed at the required angle in blocks 19, Fig. 2, secured by studs 20 to blocks 24 fixed in a recess 25 in the cylinder 10 by screws, the studs 20 having heads 22 shaped to fit slidably in dovetail grooves 23 in the block 24 so that the pins 11 can be adjusted. Corresponding adjustment of the support 12 can be made along a shaft 28, which is carried by an adjustable arm 34 so that the support can be adjusted relatively to the cylinder 10. A blade 36 operated by links 38, 39 from a cam 37 strips the sheets from the pins 11 when the required number has been collected, and they are carried by tapes 40, 41 to a delivery table 42. The machine may print on sheets or on a web 3, cutting apparatus 4 - - 7, Fig. 1, being provided in the latter case between the machine and the collecting apparatus. Cutting and perforating apparatus.-The web 3 is perforated or partly severed by a blade 4 and co-operating groove 5 and passes between endless bands or tapes 6, 7, the rolls 8, 9 of which are driven at a greater speed than the web so that the severance is completed.
