Abstract
Image capture suitable for the surroundings 16 of a vehicle and a vehicle assistance system 12 where a voice command 26 given by a person inside the motor vehicle is detected by a microphone of the assistance system and an electronic computing device 18 of the assistance system analyses the voice command. Depending on the analysed voice command an image 14 of the surroundings is captured by at least one camera 22, 24 of the assistance system. The voice command is analysed by a machine learning algorithm 30 of the electronic computing device so that the electronic computing device controls the camera to capture a section 32 of the surroundings mentioned in the voice command. A plurality of cameras of the assistance system may capture a plurality of images of the surroundings and the electronic computing device select the image including the mentioned section. After the image of the mentioned section has been selected by the electronic computing device, the camera may capture a further image of the same section. The image may be transmitted to a storage device 34 or displayed on a display 36. An assistance system of a motor vehicle may perform the above described image capturing.

The following description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
[0025] Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of a motor vehicle 10 with an embodiment of an assistance system 12. The assistance system 12 of the motor vehicle 10 is configured to capture an image 14 of the surroundings 16 of the motor vehicle 10, wherein the assistance system 12 comprises at least one electronic computing device 18, one microphone 20, and at least one camera 22, 24. In this embodiment, the assistance system 12 comprises two cameras 22, 24, in particular a first camera 22 and a second camera 24.
[0026] The assistance system 12 is configured to perform a method for capturing an image 14 of the surroundings 16, wherein a voice command 26 of a person 28 inside the motor vehicle 10 is detected by the microphone 20. Then, the electronic computing device 18 analyzes the voice command 26 and depending on the analyzed voice command 26 the image 14 of the surroundings 16 is captured by the at least one camera 22, 24 of the assistance system 12.
[0027] In an embodiment the voice command 26 is analyzed by a machine learning algorithm 30 of the electronic computing device 18, such that the electronic computing device 18 controls the camera 22, 24 in such a way that the camera 22, 24 captures a section 32 mentioned in the voice command 26 of the entire surroundings 16.
[0028] In an embodiment a plurality of cameras 22, 24 of the assistance system 12 are capturing a plurality of images 14 of the surroundings 16 and depending on the section 32 mentioned in the voice command, the electronic computing device 18 is configured to select the image 14, which includes the mentioned section 32. Furthermore, after the image 14 has been selected by the electronic computing device, the camera 20, 24 which captured the selected image 14 takes a further image 14 of the same section 32. In another embodiment, the image 14 may be transmitted to a storage device 34 of the assistance system 12 and/or the image 14 is displayed on a display device 36 of the assistance system 12. Alternatively, the image 14 may be stored in a cloud system backend.
[0029] The machine learning algorithm 30 may be, in particular, a trained deep learning algorithm.
[0030] In a specific embodiment and as shown in Fig. 1, two areas of machine learning, namely voice recognition and computer vision, are combined. The image 14 is captured by the voice command 26, which may be for example "take a picture of the sunset". Accordingly, in the shown embodiment the sunset is the section 32 selected by the user for a picture to be taken of.
[0031] In a way similar to existing voice assisting models, the voice recognition model analyzes the sentence and recognizes it as belonging to the "picture-taking" domain, with the additional input to focus on the sunset. The voice command 26 is passed through the machine learning algorithm 30 that runs on the electronic computing device 18. The electronic computing device 18 may be a microservice in the cloud or a built-in server in the motor vehicle 10. The service is connected to several on-board cameras 20, 24 may be built into the motor vehicle 10 for capturing the surroundings 16. For instance, if the person 28 is asking the camera to take a picture, for example "take a picture", without adding specifying extra commands. In this case, the first camera 22 captures the image 14 and sends it to the storage device 34. The storage device 34 may be accessed by logging into a website, an application or possibly even by using the motor vehicle 10, for example the display device 36 of the motor vehicle 10.
[0032] In another example, the person 28 wants to take an image 14 of the section 32. For example, the voice command 26 is "take a picture of the sunset". In this case, the first camera 22 and the second camera 24 each capture an image 14 and send the captured images 14 to the application, where they are scanned for the requested focus object, in this example the sunset, using image detection. To perform the image detection, the trained deep learning algorithm, which may be built with a convolutional neural network that has been trained on the most common focus word, for example "sunset", "sea" or "licence plate", is used. Once, the section 32 has been detected, the high probability area of the image 14 is cut out and sent to the storage device 34.
[0033] In an embodiment, an extra step could be recapturing the image 14 with computed coordinates of the section 32 in question. The quality may be improved by first focusing the camera 22, 24 on the section 32 and then capturing the image 14, in this case, movements during the computing process may be taken into consideration.
[0034] In another embodiment, the voice assistance may give feedback at the end of the session. lithe focus object/section 32 was not found or any other problems have occurred, the voice assistance provides the person 28 with this feedback.
[0035] The invention makes it easier for the person 28 to take images 14 while driving, which in turn increases the safety of the person 28, who may be a driver of the motor vehicle 10, by preventing that the person is distracted by the picture taking, which might lead to risky situations or accidents.
