Abstract

A cord wrap device for the shortening and securing of small cables or cords, such that the device can be stored without the cable or cords becoming tangled or knotted along its length. The body 1 of the device may be rigid and flexible and may include concave cord receiving wells 2 around which a cord may be wound, a cord valley 3 to secure a cord, pinch points 4 and inner wells 6 between bulging fingers 5. The device may secure a cable for earphones or headphones.

Description

Cord and cable wrap This invention relates to a cable wrap device for the storing of cables or cords, such as headphone cords, where the cables or cords are prevented from tangling and knotting.
Often small cord and cables, such as headphone cords, can become tangled and knotted along their length if stored improperly or without careful consideration, Knotted and tangled cords can be cumbersome and take a long time to be undone before being re-used.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a flexible device of ornamental shape that provides for a fast method for shortening the length of small cables or cords around its concave body while securing, between the device's two pinch points, the position of the wrapped cord around the device, such that the cables or cords are prevented from becoming loose and tangled or knotted along their length. The four bulging fingers at either end of the device are used to securely hold in place the end of the cord where the end has a object attached such as the earphones at the end of a headphone cable.
The specific three-dimensional shape of the device allows the small cords or cables to be wrap within the concave body profile so that the final wrapped cord is not too bulky for storage, The symmetrical shape has two large fingers 5 on either side of the device that create a pinch point between each other, The the cord or cable can be pushed between the pinch point 4 and into a inner cord-well 6 where the cord is kept secure. The large fingers 5 are flexible and can flex to accommodate various shapes or small cords or cable and neatly secure the ends of the cords, such the the earphones of headphone cables, An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: FIG. 1 is a side elevation view thereof, and the view from the opposite side is the same; FIG.2 is a side elevation view thereof, and the view from the opposite side is the same; FIG,3 is a front elevation view thereof; FIG.4 is a back elevation view thereof; FIG.5 is a front and side perspective view thereof; FIG.6 is a back and side perspective view thereof FIG.7 is a front and side perspective view thereof showing the device as used to wrap and secure two points of the cord thereto; and, FIG.8 is a back and side perspective view thereof showing the device as used to secure and attach a portion of the cord in the valley (3) thereto.
The ornamental three-dimensional shape of the device comprises of elements 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 to wrap and hold small cables or cords easily. The device is one mold made of a flexible and rigid material, The cord can be thread through the the inner-wells 6 at either end of the device by pushing the cord between the pinch points 4, The large fingers S are flexible to allow the cord through the pinch point 4 and into the inner well 6. The large fingers 5 keep the pitch point 4 tight and therefore the cord in the inner-well 6 remains in place.
Additionally to secure the device to the the cord further, the cord can be pushed into the cord-valley 3 where the cord is held firmly in place. Figure 8 shows a perspective view of the device as used with cord thread through the inner-wells 6 and secured in the cord-valley 3.
The body us the centre of the device where the shape of the device is slimmest. The concave cord-receiving wells 2 are concave in shape to allow the cords or cable to be wrapped repeatedly around the body 1 and cord-receiving well 2, such that the wrapped cord remains neat and not too bulky.
Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the device as used with cord or cable wrapped around the body 1 and concave cord-receiving wells 2.
