Abstract

250,385. Wade, H., (Koppers Co.). March 25, 1925. Splashing - apparatus; mounting nozzles.-Apparatus for use for example in absorption towers comprises a nozzle 4<1> mounted to discharge liquid on one side of a wall 8 and deliver liquid to a spatter plate 4 in the line of discharge from the nozzle, the nozzle being so mounted that it may easily be removed from the other side of the wall. The nozzle 4<1> is mounted on a tube 2 the outer end of which terminates in a bushing 5 screwed in a flange 7 secured to the wall 8. Threaded to the flange 7 is a sleeve 9 surrounding the nozzle and provided with arms 10 carrying a stirrup 11 to which the spatter plate 4 is attached, the distance between the nozzle and plate being regulated by nuts 13. The bushing 5 is connected by a nippla 19 to a pipe 18 screwing into a cross fitting 20 connected through a flange 23 to a valve 24 connected to the liquid supply. On detaching the flange 23 from the valve body and unscrewing the bushing 5 the nozzle 4<1> may be removed through the sleeve 9. Plugs 21, 26 are provided in the fitting 20 the removal of which allows the passage of cleaning tools through the nozzle and pipe 22.
