256,955. Buchi, A. Aug. 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Motor power plant.- In plant comprising an internal-combustion engine 1 exhausting into a turbine 9 and supplied with scavenging air by a compressor 5, a valve 16 is provided in the inlet conduit to the engine to prevent a flow of exhaust into the compressor, when the engine inlet and exhaust valves 14. 13 are open together and the exhaust pressure is higher than the compressor delivery pressure. The valve 16 may be automatic or controlled or it may be held open by linkage 17. A valve for the same purpose may be placed in the engine exhaust pipe 11 or the valve could be combined with the inlet or exhaust valve 14, 13.
