DICE WORD GAME
The invention relates to a word game using lettered dice making words with the letters showing on the top side of the dice after the dice have been rolled, placing the word made onto a plying area, the playing area being marked out in grid form of equal size, the centre square of the grid being marked as the start point all other squares being blank, players gaining points for the amount of lettered dice used to make the word. Words are placed on the playing area as a crossword puzzle, each new word must connect with a word already on the playing area.
The object of the game is to get more points than any other players, the player with the highest points wins the game. It is entertaining, competitive, educational, and can be used as a teaching aid, to help people enhance their spelling skills in a friendly atmosphere, people of all ages and different degrees of spelling ability. The game can be played with one and up to four players.
The game consists of 50 coloured dice for each of 4 players a different colour for each player, the dice having a different letter of the alphabet on each of the six sides of the dice, The letters to be capital printed painted etched or embossed on each of the 6 sides of the dice.
the total number of dice in each game = 200. The dice size is the same size as the marked out squares on the playing area. 25 dice have two vowels and 25 have one vowel. The dice can be of wood plastic or any mouldable material.
The playing area is a flat board the surface is divided into 441 equal sized squares, 21 squares across the board and 21 squares down the board. A mark on the centre square indicating the starting position of the game. The playing area rotates on the base of the box that contains all the components ofthe game The board can be made of cardboard wood plastic glass or metal.
A score board for each of the 4 players to keep track oftheir score. The score board having a number of holes with an appropriate number marked beneath the hole, pegs are placed in the hole indicating the score reached at any point of the game. The score board can be made of cardboard, wood, plastic, metal.
The game is suitable for 1 and up to 4 players. Each player starts the game with a pot of SO coloured dice.
They start by using 10 of the dice rolling the dice before each time it is their time to play, after placing their word on the playing area, the word is checked if it is a valid word the player collects the points for that word and any other word that they have made by laying their word in a way that has changed a word that is already on the playing area, as explained in the rules.
After each turn they collect dice from their pot so they have 10 before each go. As the game goes on they will find that they cannot have any in their pot to replace the ones they have used. So they continue with the ones they have left, making sure they roll the dice before they play.
When a player places the last of their SO dice on the playing area the game stops, players that still have dice are not allowed to lay any more dice. They player with the highest score wins the game.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompany drawings in which.
