Abstract

A light excluding cover 1 for a child's pram or pushchair includes adjusting and fitting means 2, 3, 4, including a draw cord, for attaching the unit to the pram or pushchair. The cover can include vents at the front 6 and sides 5 to the enclosed seating or sleeping area. The cover is intended to provide a darkened environment for a sleeping child.

Description

Light excluding cover for pram or pushchair This invention relates to a device that covers the seating and/or sleeping area of a child's pram or pushchair and provides a darkened environment for the occupying child.
When children are tired it is widely understood that an entirely darkened environment is most likely to induce restful sleep.
However, when children are not at home, providing a dark environment in which they can sleep is difficult, especially when travelling in a pushchair or pram. The present invention proposes a solution to this problem by providing a universally fitting cover that excludes light from the seating and/or sleeping area of the pushchair or pram.
Whilst excluding light from the occupant, the cover maintains ventilation through side and front vents. The cover comprises a draw cord and adjustable fasteners to ensure a neat fit to any pushchair or pram.
The invention will be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1: shows a standard child's pram Figure 2: shows a standard child's pushchair Figures 3 & 4: shows the light excluding pram or pushchair cover Figure 5: shows the light excluding cover for pram or pushchair fitted to a standard pram Figure 6: shows the light excluding cover for pram or pushchair fitted to a standard pushchair In figures 1 and 2, a standard child's puschair and pram without any light excluding cover. It can be seen how much light can enter the child's seating and/or sleeping area.
In figure 3, a front view of the light excluding cover showing front vent (6), adjustable fastenings (4) and draw cord (2) for fitting adjustments.
In figure 4, a side view of the light excluding cover showing front vent (6), side vents (5), adjustable fastenings (3 & 4) and draw cord (2) for fitting adjustments.
In figure 5 the light excluding cover fitted to a standard pram.
In figure 6 the light excluding cover fitted to a standard pushchair.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A light excluding cover comprising means for multiple fitting adjustments and attaching unit to cover the seating and/or sleeping area of a child's pushchair.
  2. 2. A light excluding cover comprising means for multiple fitting adjustments and attaching unit to cover the sleeping area of a child's pram.
  3. 3. A light excluding cover according to claim 1 or 2, in which side ventilation sections have been incorporated.
  4. 4. A light excluding cover according to claim 1 or 2, in which front ventilation sections have been incorporated.
