Abstract
247,103. Skerrett, H. N., (Timken Roller Bearing Co.). Sept. 2, 1925. Worm-and-wheel gearing.-A worm shaft 1<a> is supported at its ends in roller bearings 12, one of the races being curved convexly in an axial direction to permit the rollers to tilt or rock should bowing or flexing of the shaft occur. As shown, a worm 2 is formed on a sleeve 14 keyed to the shaft 1<a> and spaced by members 15 from the inner conical races 8 of the supporting bearings, each of the outer race rings 4 having a convexly curved bearing face. The conical and curved bearing faces may be formed on the outer and inner race rings respectively.
