Abstract

A shower head comprising a dispenser A, B that fits in to an area C within a shower head and allows body gel, shampoo and the like to be dispensed in to the water flow, thereby generated a foamed mixture which is dispensed via the shower rose. The shower head per se may be elongated, to approximately 40cm, so as to allow ease of use when washing the body with minimum bending or stretching. An alternative embodiment relates to a comparable pesticide dispenser that could be linked to a garden water hose.

Description

Freedom Shower This invention relates to a shower head incorporating an
integral shower gel/hair shampoo dispenser. Major problems arise for the elderly or infirm person in bathing without assistance. To give the infirm person extra independence, and to avoid the need for daily visits to the home by carers, and perhaps going into residential care earlier than necessary, I have designed a shower head which enables the infirm person to take a shower whilst seated on a bath seat, holding the shower head in one hand, and operating the dispenser with the other, avoiding the need to stand in the bath and not needing to reach out for shower gel or shampoo, greatly removing the fear of falling into, or being able to get out of, the bath. The dispenser comprises an outer barrel, with an open grating to front and rear, which fits into the back of the shower head in a fixed position. An inner barrel fits into the outer barrel, and has an upper and lower chamber, each chamber having an open channel running from back to front. The inner barrel can be turned 50 to the left or right. The open channels of upper and lower chambers are offset, so that when the channel of the upper chamber is turned 50 to the right, it brings the open channel into line with the open grating of the outer barrel, allowing water to flow through dispenser, dissolving body gel, carrying a foam mixer through to shower rose. Turning the inner barrel 50 to the left brings the channel of lower chamber into line with grating of outer barrel, allowing water to flow through, dissolving shampoo gel, carrying a mixed foam through to shower rose. When inner barrel is in a straight ahead position, both upper and lower channels are blocked off from water flow, and plain water is allowed to flow between the outer barrel body, and shower head body, allowing for person's body and hair rinsing.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows inner barrel in a straight ahead position A and showing open channels of upper and lower chambers. Figure 2 shows inner barrel A inserted into outer barrel B, and turned 50 to the right, bringing the channel of the upper chamber into line with the open grating of the outer barrel, allowing water to flow through, dissolving body gel, carrying a foam mixture through to shower rose.
Turning inner barrel 50 to the left brings channel of lower chamber into line with outer grating of outer barrel allowing water to flow through, dissolving hair shampoo, carrying a foam mixture to shower rose.
When inner barrel is in a straight ahead position both channels of upper and Lower chambers are blocked off, allowing plain water to flow around dispenser, to Shower rose, allowing user to rinse body and hair.

Claims (3)

1. A body gellshampoo dispenser which fits into a shower head and is operated by the water flow pressure.
2. A dispenser according to claim I which fits into a shower head which is elongated approximately 40cm to allow user to reach all parts of the body, whilst seated on a bath seat, with the minimum of bending or stretching.
3. A dispenser according to claim 1 which can be used as a pesticide dispenser when a garden water hose.
