Abstract

244,515. Burn, J. F., and Hill, F. Sept. 16, 1924. Building blocks and slabs, special shapes of.- A double wall consiste of inner slabs 1, Figs. 5 and 6, abutting against one another upon all four edges, and outer slabs 13 joined to pier blocks 14, 15, which are keyed by cement filling to the inner slabs and are exposed on the outer faces. Fig. 2 shows a corner block. The slabs 13 interlock by tongues and grooves and may be reversed to protrude or recede from the wall face. The inner wall is constructed, as described in Specification 235,331, with wall-ties 2, pugging strips 3, concrete filling 4, and reinforcements 5. The pier blocks 14 are U-shaped, and those 15 at cross walls are T-shaped. Studs 17 may engage the inner slabs. At door and window openings the pier blocks may be of half width. Wall plates, string courses, sills, and lintels may be cast in situ.
