Abstract

The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock having a lock plate (1) and a cylinder lock (5). The rear end of the cylinder lock housing (5a) is fixed in the lock plate (1) by putting a locking receiver connection into effect, and is thereby additionally protected from unauthorised breaking-out.

Description

Description
MOTOR VEHICLE DOOR LOCK 2321929 This invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock, particularly for motor vehicles having a central locking device and a theft protection device, having a lock plate, a closing mechanism, a locking mechanism comprising an interior locking lever and exterior locking lever, and having a cylinder lock disposed in the region of the exterior door handle, comprising a cylinder lock housing and a closing cylinder rotatably mounted in the cylinder lock housing. In a motor is vehicle door lock of this type, the closing mechanism is formed in the usual manner from a rotary latch, a pawl and a release lever on which an operating lever system acts. The locking mechanism is formed from a locking lever system and comprises a locking drive. The expression "in the region of the exterior door handle" means that the exterior door handle and the cylinder lock are situated, at a predetermined spacing, on the same door.
One constant problem with motor vehicle door locks is that a door lock such as this can be manipulated relatively easily even if a theft protection device is provided. This is because a theft protection device such as this may simply prevent the locked motor vehicle from being unlocked from the interior of the motor vehicle. In contrast to this, there is the risk of the cylinder lock being broken out and of the exterior locking lever of the locking mechanism then being freely accessible from the outside, with the consequence that it is possible to operate the 2 locking mechanism and, via the locking mechanism, the closing mechanism also. The present invention aims to provide a remedy here.
A basic object of the present invention is further to develop a motor vehicle door lock of the form of construction described at the outset in a simpler and operationally more reliable manner, so that breaking out the cylinder lock becomes considerably more difficult and is made almost impossible.
According to the present invention, there is provided a motor vehicle door lock, particularly for motor vehicles having a central locking device and a theft protection device, having a lock plate, a closing mechanism, a locking mechanism comprising an interior locking lever and exterior locking lever, and having a cylinder lock disposed in the region of the exterior door handle, comprising a cylinder lock housing and a closing cylinder rotatably mounted in the cylinder lock housing, the rear end of the cylinder lock housing is fixed in the lock plate, that the closing cylinder part which projects from the cylinder lock housing has an eccentric and that a transmission lever is connected to the eccentric and to the exterior locking lever with predetermined motional play.
The consequence of these measures of the invention is that the cylinder lock or cylinder lock housing is not only anchored on the bodywork in the region of the exterior door handle, but that a second, additional anchoring point is put into effect for the cylinder lock or cylinder lock housing, namely in the lock plate itself. The mounting provided for the cylinder lock is thereby doubled, as it were, or in any event is considerably enhanced in such a way that it is practically 3 impossible to break out the cylinder lock by a conventional manipulation, but instead this requires expensive, heavy tools. In this respect, a theft protection means is thereby put into effect which is distinguished by its mode of construction, which is simple but is nevertheless suitable for its function. Since the use of an exterior locking rod, which is otherwise customary, is dispensed with, the installation of the motor vehicle door lock as a whole is made considerably easier. According to one preferred embodiment of the invention, the rear end of the cylinder lock housing is fixed in the lock plate by means of a locking receiver connection, e.g. is clipped in.
The lock plate itself may have an extension for clipping in the cylinder lock housing.
The invention is described in more detail below with reference to the drawings, which merely illustrate an example of an embodiment, and where:
Figure 1 is a partial, schematic view of a motor vehicle door lock having a closing mechanism and a locking mechanism, and of the exterior locking lever thereof; Figure 2 illustrates the lock plate for the subject of Figure 1, with the cylinder lock and with merely the exterior locking lever for the locking mechanism; and is a view, in the direction of arrow a, of the subject of Figure 2 with the backplate removed.
The Figures illustrate a motor vehicle door lock, which in fact comprises a lock plate 1, a closing mechanism 2 which is merely indicated, and a locking mechanism 3, the exterior locking lever 4 of which can be seen. In addition, a cylinder lock 5, which firstly comprises a cylinder lock housing 5a and secondly comprises a closing cylinder 5b which is rotatably mounted in the cylinder lock housing 5a, is disposed in the region of the door handle, which is Figure 3 4 not illustrated. The rear end of the cylinder lock housing 5a is fixed in the lock plate 1. The front end of the cylinder lock housing 5a is anchored in the region of the door handle, in the body panel for example. This is not shown, however. The closing cylinder or closing cylinder part which projects from the cylinder lock housing 5a has an eccentric 6. a transmission lever 7 is connected or coupled, with predetermined motional play, at one end to the eccentric 6 and at the other end to the exterior locking lever 4 of the locking mechanism 3, so that when the closing cylinder 5b is operated using a door key the locking mechanism 2 can be operated via the exterior locking lever 4. The lock plate 1 has an extension 8 with a corresponding locking recess for the insertion of the cylinder lock housing 5a. As a result, a double mounting for the cylinder lock 5 is created, and increased protection from the unauthorised breaking-out thereof is thereby achieved.
