Abstract

A beverage can is provided with a closure attached to the centre of the top of the can by a rivet. The closure is tab shaped and is rivetted to a raised portion E in the centre of the can top, so that it can rock on a transverse axis. In its closing position, the main part B of the tab fastens over the opening in the can. The underside of the tab has a formation which latches in the can opening. A small portion A of the tab extends beyond the rivet in the opposite direction to the main closuring part, and when pressed on, causes the tab to rock about a transverse axis. This unlatches the main closuring part from the opening. The whole tab can then be pivoted about the rivet to a position in which the can opening is accessible, this being the position shown in figure 1. Preferably the underside of the tab has a peripheral seal to engage around the opening.

Description

RESEALABLE CAN OPENER Figure 1 shows top of a drinks can and the new solid ring in the open position to drink from.
Figure 2 shows top of drinks can in a closed position.
Figure 3 shows top view of the can ring which also shows the section of the thumb rest (B) pressed inward so as to sit in opening of can lid.
In Figure 3 the inserted thumb rest can also be flush with the rest of the ring with no part inserted, but can have thumb rest like (A) to take plastic or rubber SEAL on underSiDE.
Figure 4 shows a view of bottom of ring, showing the turned over edges for extra strength. The inserted Bottom or thumb rest B. And the piece where can is attached to can lid (I). All around the inserted thumb rest (B) on under side of ring stated as (X) can have a plastic or rubber seal as to make it airtight when closed.
Figure 5 shows the plastic or rubber seal needed when the thumb rest on ring is not inserted, and this piece sit in on the under side of ring where inserted piece is so to give air tight seal when closed.
A) Surface thumb rest B) Inserted thumb rest C) Can ring D) Lower of can top E) Can ring rest F) Opening of can G) Top level of can top H) Bottom view of (B) which will sit in (F) I) Is were ring is attached to can which is sat on top of(E).
Referring to the drawings, by pressing on (A) on can ring lightly which has a thumb rest, this will rock on (E) which will lift the can ring at the rear by (H) so to make it casicr to lift ring with finger as ring is a little larger than normal so to cover opening. This will open the silled can at (F) than can press to lower ring back to same place, so to drink from can. To CLOSE can you can slide the ring around either SIDE of can as it is attached at (I). The thumb grip at (B) will also make it easier to push ring around with light pressure by finger or thumb, until it covers opening (F).
When the can ring is over opening (F) in can lid (G), to close you press down lightly on thumb press (B) which then catchies under the can lid at the rear and the inserted part of (B) sit in side of can opening (F) to seal can opening.
To open can, press lightly on thumb rest (A) which will rock on (E) in the opposite direction. So to lift the rear of can ring at the back of thumb rest (B) which will release the catch under lid.
Than you can turn can ring either way with thumb or finger until it sits in the position as to drink from.
Ring is a little larger than normal so to cover open, without being pushed insidc.
Can either be made from metals, plastics or both.

Claims (4)

1.A resealable solid opener connected to the centre of a sealed container, which can be used to open and reseal container for air tight.
2.A resealable opener as in claim 1 which sits on top of a sealed container by a fixed rivet in lid of container.Which sits on a raised impress in lid of container abling rotation of opener clockwise or anti clockwise to clear lid of container to reach its position
3.As stated in claims 1 and 2 when resealable opener is in position before container is open, slight presure on the surface thumb rest will raise opposite end of opener. As it rocks on the raised impress in the lid of container it allows finger space either side or back of opener.Which is raised so to lift opener and as it rocks on centre impress in lid. This will give presure against opening of sealed container at surface thumb rest end of opener thus to break seal of opening of the container and still be attached.
4.When resealable opener as in claims 1 and 2 and claim 3 is rotated around lid to position over opening in lid, slight presure on the inserted thumb rest will seal container.By sitting over the opening and the inserted thumb rest sitting inside to seal opening and by pressing on the opposite end of the opener the surface thumb rest will release the opener. From the opening as it rocks on the raised impress in the centre of container, which then can be moved around lid of container, thus container is opened.
