Abstract
223,117. Bloomfield, C. W. Feb. 18, 1924. Junction boxes; earth-continuity couplings.-A junction box for metal-sheathed cables comprises a base plate and a spring clamping plate adapted to fit over the sheaths of the cables and be retained in contact therewith by the ends of the clamp engaging holes or slots in or lugs on the base plate. As shown in Fig. 3 a base plate a has pairs of lugs with ends b' bent over so as to be engaged by a plate or bar b of thin and springy metal having its corners c' struck up so as to prevent displacement after its application. Figs. 4 and 6 show a springy strip c formed with hooked ends c<2> to engage holes a<1> in a base plate a, preferably arranged in pairs of sets so that strips of varying sizes may be used according to the number or type of cables to be bonded. The plate a is ribbed as at a<2> to provide clearance for the ends of the clamping members. The corners y<1> of the base plate may be formed as spring lugs to engage a cover. The clamping plates or bars may be corrugated transversely as in Fig. 6 to increase the area in contact with the cable sheath.
