Abstract

222,445. Lamblin, A. Sept. 24, 1923, [Convention date]. Radiators.-The thin metal containing-plates 1, 2 of a radiator element are united at intervals by bars 10 sunk in grooves through which rivets 11 pass, the ends of the rivets lying flush with the surface. The bars may be fixed in the grooves before riveting as by tinning and the grooves may be completely filled after riveting by a layer of tin &c. pass, along two or more rows, each divided into semicircular grooves by two pairs of projections 12, 13 and 14, 15 at right angles to each other, Fig. 8, whereby a watertight joint is formed all round the rubber block by each such set of grooves 10, 11. The crimping is performed by means of an apparatus with radially moving tools, such as described in Specification 8592/07, [Class 9, Ammunition &c.]; but two pairs of tool-holders 16, 17 and 18, 19 are used and reciprocated at right angles to each other, and the tools 22, 27 are shaped and spaced apart as shown in Figs. 7 and 8.
