228,903. Clothel Refrigerating Go., (Assignees of Irwin, 0. C.). Feb. 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Tilting-disc valves.-The inlet and delivery valves of the compressor of a refrigerating- machine are situated at the top of the cylinder and consist of annular plates 34. The inlet valve is located in a groove in a ported plate 31, which is held down against a flange 23 of the cylinder sleeve 22 by the enlarged end of a discharge fitting 33. This valve is pressed down by one spring 32 only, so that it tilts during movement and tends to clean the valve seat and to minimize noise of operation. The delivery valve 34 is pressed down by a spring 36.
