Abstract

Gas meters.-In dry gas meters of the kind in which the gas passages to and from the valves are provided mainly above the valve plate, the ports of the valve gratings open laterally at different levels in the corresponding gas passages. The valve gratings d, e in the meter shown are arranged on the valve plate. a in a chamber q partitioned off from the upper compartment of the meter, and the middle ports d<1>, e<1> of the valve gratings open respectively into limbs b<1>, b<2> of a Y-shaped fitting b leading to the gas outlet pipe c. The gas inlet pipe s is connected to the chamber q by a passage t. The outer port d<2> of the grating d is connected by conduits b, b<1> to one diaphragm while the inner port d<3> communicates through a conduit f and a port a<1> with the corresponding diaphragm chamber. The outer port e<2> of the grating e communicates directly with the other diaphragm chamber, and the inner port e<3> is connected by conduits g, l to the diaphragm. The flag wires m pass through the plate a into the valve chamber q and are connected by levers m<1> and links m<2> to a spindle n operating the valves o, p and index spindle r.
