Abstract

The fixed brake carrier (1) comprises two arms (11, 12) extending over the disc periphery, and a calliper (3) is slidingly mounted on the carrier by means of a single bolt (4), the arms (11, 12) providing guide surfaces for an outer and inner brake pad (21, 22) in the form of spring steel linings (5) secured to the arms, and the mutually facing surfaces of the arms (11, 12) forming a radially outwardly wedge-shaped converging guide (13) for the pads (21, 22), the steel linings (5) being laid flat and non-resiliently on the mutually facing surfaces of the carrier arms, and the end regions of the steel linings each having a substantially radially inwardly directed free spring arm (51, 52) which abut resiliently against the respective end faces of the brake pads. As a result, the brake works smoothly and without rattle or chatter. Inner pad (22) is applied by hydraulic cylinder (32), outer pad (21) by reaction through calliper (3)-outer pad (21) is coupled to calliper (3) by a clamping spring (6). <IMAGE>
