Abstract

A hydraulic power hammer comprises a main body (1) having a tool (4) slidably inserted thereinto, throttle valves (1a) provided in the main body (1), a piston (9) slidably inserted into the main body (1) and abutting against the tool (4), a gas pressure accumulating chamber (13) defined in the main body (1) at the other end of the piston (9), an annular oil chamber (10) defined between the main body (1) and the piston (9), an annular oil passage (17) communicating with the oil chamber (10), a sliding valve (19) biased by the gas pressure of a gas in the gas pressure accumulating chamber (13) so as to normally close the annular oil passage (17), a valve chamber (15) communicating with the annular oil passage (17) only when the sliding valve (19) is moved to the uppermost position, an oil outlet chamber (14) communicating with the valve chamber (15), a narrow high-pressure oil chamber (16) provided adjacent to one end of the sliding valve (19), a projection (21) extended from said one end of the sliding valve (19) and inserted into the high-pressure oil chamber (16), and oil passages (18) effecting communication between the annular and high-pressure oil chambers (10, 16). <IMAGE>
