Abstract

A method of fashioning a plastics article, especially from expanded plastics material, by means of an electrically heated cutting tool of wire or metal strip comprises:- a) forming a cutting line on a plastics sheet of similar melting point to the plastics material to be cut; b) locating the sheet on the material to be cut; c) moving the cutting tool along the cutting line to cut both the sheet and the material along that line. A series of pieces may be cut from a single block of material, displaced relative to each other and then fixed to form an object having a desired contoured surface. Alternatively objects of revolution may be formed by the method. n
