Abstract

There is provided an assembly which comprises a bedspread, a blanket or quilt and a top sheet, with means securing the three pieces together. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in or relating to bed covers THE PRESENT INVENTION relates to bed covers, particularly to an assembly of a bedspread, a blanket or quilt and a sheet. Herein, the term "quilt" includes an eiderdown.
According to the present invention there is provided an assembly which comprises a bedspread, a blanket or quilt and a top sheet, with means securing the three pieces together.
'The present invention enables one to obtain a cqnsiderable saving of time in making beds (up to about ninety percent is theoretically possible), at the same time making a bed more comfortable to lie in, allowing better relaxation and comfort therein. The present invention also helps to keep the bed tidy during the night, even if the occupant(s) turn over, etc. therein. Furthermore, the assembly does not oppress or weigh heavily on the occupant(s) of the bed, thus allowing a greater enjoyment of rest in the bed. In addition, changing of the top sheet is very easy. Because the make-up of the bed is not altered, it remains practically the same as a standard bed; a simple straightening of the assembly (and, of course, straightening of the bottom sheet) is all that is required to make the bed.
For a better understanding of the present invention and to show how the same may be put into effect, reference will now be made, by way of exampIe, to the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an extended bedspread with the top thereof upwards and with a quilt or blanket partially fixed thereto, Figure 2 shows a perspective view of an extended bed cover in accordance with the invention, comprising a bedspread and a quilt or blanket and also a top bed sheet, the face of each of which is to be against a bed being upwards, Figure 3 shows a longitudinal sectional view of a made bed, showing one of two securing lines for the bedspread-quilt/blanket, Figure 4 shows a transverse sectional view near the foot of the bed of Figure 3, and Figure 5 shows a transverse sectional view on a plane through the centre of the bed of Figure 3, through the bedspread and the quilt or blanket and their securing elements.
The present invention comprises an assembly made up of three basic elements, namely a beds plead 1, a blanket or quilt 2 and a top sheet 3.
On lines 4 (which will coincide with the side edges of a mattress 5 on which the assembly is to be used), there are provided securing zippers 6 to join the bedspread 1 to the blanket or quilt 2. The securing zippers could alternatively be buttons, closings, clips, hooks, staplings, adhesive tapes, or any other suitable hooking or fastening system.
It is possible for another blanket to be placed (without being fixed) between the blanket or quilt 2 and the bedspread 1.
After stretching and placing the blanket or quilt 2 over the inverted bedspread 1, the ends, at the foot and the head of the blanket or quilt that must be loose, are placed within envelopes or pockets 7 at the foot and head of the top sheet 3.
The top sheet 3 is made with two envelopes or pockets 7 at its ends, bottom 8 being folded or sewn and the sides 9 being sewn, thus defining at the foot and the head of the mattress a kind of pouch, envelope or pocket 7, into which projecting ends of the blanket or quilt 2 are fitted. The edge of the sheet is over the mattress 5.
Thus, the sheet 3 is secured to the blanket or quilt 2 and the latter is secured to the bedspread 1, but at the same time it is possible to withdraw the top sheet easily for washing.
An assembly according to the invention may be called an "edrocolcha".
1. An assembly which comprises a bedspread, a blanket or quilt and a top sheet, with means securing the three pieces together.
2. An assembly according to Claim 1, wherein, coincident with a line at the side edges of a mattress on which the assembly is intended to be used, there are provided securing means for securing the bedspread to the quilt or blanket.
3. An assembly according to Claim 2, wherein the securing means for securing the bedspread to the quilt or blanket are zippers, buttons, closings, clips, hooks, sewings, staplings or adhesive tapes.
4. An assembly according to Claim 1,2 or 3, wherein an envelope or pocket is formed in the top sheet at the intended foot and head of a bed by the sheet being folded over and the side edges sewn together.
5. An assembly according to Claim 4, wherein the ends of the blanket at the intended foot and head of a bed, are placed within the envelopes or pockets of the top bed-sheet, thus achieving a securing between the sheet and the quilt or blanket.
6. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein another blanket or quilt is placed between the first blanket or quilt and the bedspread, the another blanket or quilt also being secured to the assembly.
7. An assembly according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein, when desired, for example in the summertime, the blanket or quilt may be replaced by a top sheet having the same securing elements with the bedspread as the blanket or quilt had, in which case the use of a top sheet with envelopes or pockets at the ends thereof is not required.
8. Any novel feature or combination of features described herein.
