Tar-macadam, plant for making.-Relates to apparatus in which the aggregate, after being dried in a rotary jacketed drum, is conveyed to a screen connected with storage bins, weighed quantities of the aggregate and binding- material being then admitted to a mixing- apparatus. The invention consists in making the apparatus readily portable by hinging the structure on which the conveyer, screen and storage bin are mounted so that it may be turned down during transit. Fig. 3 shows a section through the drying-apparatus, which comprises an inclined rotary drum a surrounded by a jacket b, the hot gases from a furnace c being passed through the jacket and then back through the drum to an uptake d. The aggregate, which enters the drum a by way of a conveyer g, is turned over, as the drum rotates, by vanes i and passes out by way of a spout j to a conveyer l leading to a rotary screen n, Fig. 1. The boot of the elevator l is provided with a self-closing flap-door z, Fig. 6, which yields to permit of escape of the material under excessive pressure. The material then passes into storage bins o, and weighed quantities are admitted to a bin q so as to be deilvered, together with weighed quantities of the binding-material in a bucket u, to a mixer t, which is preferably of the rotaryblade type and has a bottom that can be opened for discharging purposes. The conveyer l, screen n, and bins o are mounted so as to be turned down about a hinge 2 into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
