8267. Christiansen, H., and Bassmann, H. April 1. Drainage, agricultural.-In a system of draining railway embankments, porous pipes bare laid obliquely at a short distance below the surface and connected with an horizontal main drain c. The ends of the pipes are made tapering, socket or spigot so as to make flush joints. The end of each line of pipes is closed by a porous stopper.
