Abstract

419. Eves, J. V. Jan. 7. Coilers.-In a device for pressing the sliver of flax or similar fibre into the cans, comprising a plunger A, Fig. 1, suspended from a crossbar a carried by connecting - rods B, one on each side of the can, a vertical movement is imparted to the plunger by a forked lever D and cam E and by additional levers. The plunger A<1>, Fig. 5, may be pivoted to the rods B and made open on the side nearest to the delivery rollers. On the upward movement of the plunger, a cam-surface G coacts with a stud a<1> to swing the plunger outwards, and a bracket a<2> pushes out any sliver that has been delivered into the interior of the plunger. According to the Provisional Specification, the plunger in its up-and-down movement may be steadied by slides attached to the frame of the machine.
