Bed-rests.-A spring mattress of ordinary construction, having a rectangular supporting- frame independent of the bed frame, is provided at either the foot or the head end, or at both, with an adjustable rest comprising plaited or woven wire mounted on a suitable framework, so arranged that, when not in use, it can be folded down to lie approximately in the same plane as the mattress itself. Arms c, tied by a cross-bar, are pivoted to the frame h of the spring mattress a, and form a frame for the wire surface e. The rest can be adjusted by the strut f, the cross-bar f<1> of which engages a series of notches g in the mattress frame. A slot h may be provided on each side of the frame, so that the rests can be moved closer to or further from the head or foot of the mattress, and retained by the wing screws i.
