Abstract

15,777. Kenney, W. F. July 6. Locking nuts.-A reduced portion b of a bolt A, Fig. 1, and a portion d of the bore of a nut B are provided with left-handed threads of slightly different pitch. After the nut B is screwed into position on the right-handed portion a of the bolt, a locking-screw C having inner and outer left-handed threads is screwed in until the difference of pitch produces resistance and a binding action. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which a screw F has a lefthanded thread h, engaging a thread g in a bore in the bolt, and a thread f on the nut D, which are of slightly different pitch.
