Abstract

18,814. Siddle, J. F., Spencer, F. J., and Siddle, C. W. Aug. 21. Combined drawing and twisting arrangements ; twist tubes.-Rovings, slubbings, or condensed ends are drawn and twisted by two or more hollow revolving tubes e and spun directly on ring, flyer, or cap spindles. Each tube e is driven by a band and wharle e' and carries a cross-stud or spindle i, round which the yarn is passed one or more times and which is rotated on its axis by a band and wharle g and bevel-gearing g<1>. The tubes are driven at successively increasing speeds in order to draw the yarn. The spindle i may be grooved to receive the yarn, and may be enamelled, polished, or coated with antifriction material. A pair of drawing-rollers may be provided between the last tube and the winding-on spindle. Two or more threads may be spun on to one spindle in producing fancy yarns.
