Abstract

5969. Kilcher, E. March 12. Springs.-A bearing-spring arrangement for vehicles, whereby pneumatic tyres may be dispensed with, comprises bell-crank levers c, d, Fig. 1, mounted upon a fixed axle B and having their arms c connected to the ends of the vehicle axle A and their arms d linked to pistons which work in air cylinders k provided with valves e. The bearings of the axle A are free to move in the direction of the shocks received, and, in the case of motor-vehicles, the axle B may also serve as the driving-axle, toothed wheels a, b being provided as shown. Fig. 2 shows the application to both the front and rear axles of a vehicle, the valve e<1> being situated between the two pistons which work in the same cylinder k', and a joint g being provided in the arm c<1> of the front lever. The air cylinder may be replaced by a buffer spring or other elastic device.
