Abstract
710. Palotai, O. Jan. 10. Siphon bottles.-Relates to siphon bottles with removable heads. Fig. 3 shows the head in place and the pin 24 pressed down to open the valve 4, which rests on a rubber ring 3 lying on an internal flange of the bottle 1. This valve is usually held closed against a flat rubber ring 7, and, in this condition, bottles are sent to the consumer, one head being used in turn with any number of bottles. The ring 7 is held in place by a cap 9, part of which is shown separately in Fig. 4, and the cap 9 is itself held in place by a ring 20 or equivalents therefor. On the exterior of the cap 9 or of the ring 20 are formed projections, screw threads, or the like, with which the head is engaged when it is fitted in place. A tight joint is made by a projecting ridge 22 on the cap 9 becoming embedded in a rubber ring 21 on the underside of the head. To minimize the space occupied by the ring 3, the lower surface of the valve 4 is either curved or is provided with an annular groove.
