196,055. Sharman, A. W. Jan. 11, 1922. Liquid resistances.-An apparatus for obtaining low voltage currents from the mains comprises a vessel v containing watea &c. into which depend two main electrodes b, b<1> situated diametrically and connected to the main supply. Two auxiliary electrodes a, a' are situated in the vessel v symmetrically with regard to the main electrodes b, b<1> so that when a current is flowing between the latter no potential difference exists between the electrodes a, a<1>. A variable potential difference is created between the latter electrodes by means of an insulating member d which can be rotated to various positions in the electrolyte by a handle h.
