Abstract

30,790. Johnson, J. Y., [Soc. Anonyme des Anciens Etablissements Panhard et Levassor]. Dec. 30. Clutches.-The inner cone 2 is provided wit h a series of elastic blades 9, secured by rivets 10 in a groove 8 at its leading edge. These blades serve to press the leather lining 11 against the surface of the cone 1. The cone 2 is free to move endways on the shaft 4, but is locked thereto as regards rotation by arms 13 on the shaft fitting in the slots 14 of the boss of the cone. A rod 15 passing up through the shaft 4 is connected to the cone by a cottar 16 ; it is forced inwards by a spring inside the shaft and abutting on a shoulder on the end of it ; the thrust thus produced is transmitted by a collar 12 to the shaft of the cone 1. The rod 15 is prolonged beyond the shaft 4, and is connected to a lever by which it may be drawn outwards to disconnect the clutch.
