Abstract

162,424. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Flintkote Co.). Feb. 9; 1920. Waterproofing slabs.-A process for the manufacture of roofing elements such as shingle strips 5 consists in severing a sheet of saturated fibrous material into elements and coating the exposed edges with a layer of waterproofing compound 7 to prevent the access of moisture to the exposed fibres. The roofing elements so formed are completely encased, both as to faces and edges with the waterproof coating, which may be a high melting-point pitch or asphalt with an embedded surface layer of crushed slate &c.
