Irrigators and like appliances; pneumatic appliances.-Relates to apparatus for irrigating wounds whilst under reduced pressure of the kind in which a receptacle enclosing the wound is provided with an inlet for liquid and an outlet for the used liquid and for connection to the suction apparatus. and consists mainly in the provision of auxiliary openings in the receptacle through which instruments may be inserted or to which an automatic vacuum relief valve may be fitted. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a glass receptacle A for enclosing a limb is provided with three inlet nozzles F, F<2>, F<3>, a suction pipe P, a stoppered opening L for the introduction of instruments, an opening K for connection to a relief valve, an opening for a gauge V, and with a pneumatic packing ring M for making close contact with the limb. Fig. 2 shows a modified form for application to the surface of the body and provided with an inlet neck C having a sprinkler nozzle H, a suction nozzle B. and a connection K for a relief valve. Fig. 3 shows a similar construction with a relief valve R in position, with an interchangeable mouthpiece E having a ground-on joint with a receptacle A, and with an inlet nozzle W forming an ejector with the outlet B. A modification for use in cavities of the body, such as the mouth, is shown in Fig. 4. Thermometer pockets may be provided in the inlet passages of the various appliances. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also an appliance without the auxiliary openings referred to above, as shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled), an appliance wherein the pneumatic packing ring is replaced by an elastic sleeve drawn over the mouth of the receptacle and over the limb to be treated, and an appliance, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), wherein the inlet pipe f has an enlargement ground to fit a conical seat formed in the receptacle A. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
