Abstract

In order to have a high flexibility in the number of elements in each stack and in the working speed, the individual elements (10) are fed, in a fixed position (12), into compartments (16) in a conveyor magazine (14) which moves in a closed cycle, while a programmable number of elements (10) is taken from a fixed position (44) on the side of the conveyor opposite the feed side. The conveyor (14) is adapted to the desired feed and pick-up conditions by moving it in a direction (x) parallel to the feed and pick-up sections. It is envisaged that the apparatus will be used to form stacks of newspapers or magazines. <IMAGE>
