Abstract
1517758 Stress transducers ASEA AB 30 Oct 1975 [22 Nov 1974] 44927/75 Heading G1N A magneto-strictive transducer for measuring stress comprises two perpendicular coils 3, 4, (Fig. la) wound on a circular plate core 2 which is attached by welding at points 7 to a holder consisting of four pillars 5 held together by stays 6, the holder being itself attached to a test object e.g. by welding. In one embodiment (Fig. 4) the coils 3, 4 are wound on two insulating formers 12, one on either side of a cross-shaped core 11 which is subsequently welded to a square holder 1. In another embodiment (Fig. 7b) the holder is cupshaped, with a shoulder 21 on which the outer ends of the core 11 are welded, and the underside is sealed by a rubber diode 25.
